Temporary
Palm Frond Pavilion, Msheireb Downtown Doha
About the Project
Msheireb Downtown Doha, 2026
Art in Public Space engineered, fabricated and installed a temporary pavilion in a heritage courtyard in Msheireb Downtown Doha.
The structure is made of two overlapping circular frames, each about 10 metres across and 7.5 metres tall, which together form one shaded interior. One ring is clad in natural palm fronds from date farms around Doha and the other in artificial fronds, so the two materials sit side by side.
The frames were engineered for Gulf winter wind loads without thinning the cladding. Our team took the pavilion from concept to certified on-site delivery in a four-week production schedule.
