Pool Flamingos
In 2019, during DIFC Art Nights in Dubai, we unveiled an unforgettable installation by the visionary artist Cyril Lancelin—an incredible series of large-scale inflatable artworks themed around pool flamingos. These weren’t your typical poolside inflatables; they were enormous, vibrant, and impossible to miss, transforming the entire DIFC district into a playful wonderland.
Imagine strolling through DIFC and being greeted by towering flamingos in shades of pink so bold they seemed to light up the entire space. Their oversized shapes curved gracefully, creating archways, tunnels, and open spaces that felt like stepping into a surreal dream. Whether you were walking under their giant inflatable necks or simply admiring them from afar, these flamingos commanded attention and brought a burst of joy to the urban setting.
The installation took over the district with its massive size and bright energy, creating a striking contrast against the sleek architecture of DIFC. It wasn’t just art to look at—it was art you could explore, interact with, and lose yourself in. The playful design brought people together, whether they were snapping photos, walking through the structures, or simply pausing to smile at the unexpected sight of these larger-than-life flamingos.
This installation reminded us of the magic art brings when it reimagines familiar objects in extraordinary ways. Through Cyril Lancelin’s creativity, we turned a sophisticated district into a playground of color, shape, and fun—making it an experience no one who visited DIFC Art Nights that year could ever forget.
