Sabah Al Ahmad Public Art Master Plan

Sabah al Ahmad is a city in Kuwait, currently in the initial stages of development.

KEO International Consultants have designed the City and asked Art in Public Space to work on a Public Art Master Plan.

It has been an enormous challenge and a thrilling experience, as the scope of the project was truly monumental. The design was done in stages:

Beginning with a Conceptual Pre-Concept that outlined the basis and reasons for public art in the new City emhasizing the art’s unique qualities of beauty and the ability to bring people together,

Thereafter a Pre-Master Plan was prepared which focused more on the particular character of each Zone and the corresponding nature of artworks, followed by Proposals and Modelling document which further specified the recommended installations and outlined the reasons why they were chosen.

The further works will include specific artworks and small architecture designs on the areas pre-approved in the consultaion stage with the Client.

We have taken the approach of maximizing the impact through connectivity and participatory aspects whenever possible, whilst remaining true to the cultural heritage and nature of the community.
